The Winery

The Tedeschi Vinyard was established in 1974 on the sprawling 20,000 acre Ulupalakua Ranch. When you visit this elegant Maui destination, you should notice traces of the rustic "Paniolo" or cowboyculture that has been rooted there since its founding in 1856. The Winery's tasting room was once the cottage of King Kalakaua, whose legendary love of poker and champagn earned him the title of "The Merrie Monarch".
You will find several choices in white, red and sparkling wines here, as well as numerous confections including tropical syrups, jams, mustards and even gourmet honey. The Ulupalakua Ranch Store and Grill across the street conveniently serves food from their deli including Maui Cattle Company beef.
The scenic drive from Maui's resort area in Wailea or one of our Kaanapali vacation rental homes and our west side condos is about an hour. Once in Ulupalakua you will weave through rolling emerald hills consisting of much of Ulupalakua Ranch's cowpastures in which paniolos still herd cattle on horseback. The views are spectacular along this stretch, so don't forget your camera. Check the website for directions. |
