Vacation Money Tips
1. The most important factor in keeping your vacation under financial control is setting a budget and sticking to it. Plan out how much you will need for what, and make a resolution not to go over. This is especially important if you have kids. Budgeting can help you keep track of what you spent.
2. Book online. Researching online is easy and helps you narrow down who has the best deals on airfare, activities and accommodations. Check online vacation packages. In many cases they are cheaper, all things considered, than paying for everything separately.
3. Specials at condos, vacation rentals or hotels. Be sure to find out if there are any available. In some cases you may need to call to ask.
4. Keep your travel dates flexible. Prices fluctuate on a daily basis. In the case of airlines, if you book online, they will allow you to search for the cheapest flight within a range of calendar dates.
5. Eat out less. Try to find accommodations that include a fridge or kitchen so you don't need to eat out every meal. The money really adds up. It is also a good idea to stick to lunch if you decide to go out, as items on the menu are similar to dinner, but cheaper.
6. Get a big room for a big party. If you are bringing your family and one room isn't enough, ask if there are family suites available instead of renting out two rooms.
Keep these things in mind, and you may find a vacation to be surprisingly affordable.
