Full Moon Magical Cruise

The Hawaiian islands have been heralded as one of the most enjoyable vacation destinations in the world. You have probably heard all kinds of fantastic stories about its reefs, whales, waterfalls and beaches, but have you heard about its night sky? The dazzling clarity of the Hawaiian islands' night sky is widely celebrated by astronomers around the world, and the observatory atop Maui's Haleakala is the site of much groundbreaking photography and research. The island chain's placement in the middle of the Pacific Ocean makes it a perfect sanctuary from the diffuse artificial light pollution that glows over North America and most regions on major land masses. Haleakala's 10,023 foot elevation is the icing on the cake for astronomers, as atmospheric interference is relatively much lower than at sea level.
Fortunately for our vacationers, there are some enterprising organizations that have decided to provide some excellent opportunities for families and honeymooners alike to enjoy this unique Hawaiian attribute. The Pacific Whale Foundation, a non-profit organization, is planning a cocktail cruise on the full moon with narrations by Harriet Witt, and award winning astronomer. Appetizers and refreshments will be available. The ship will depart from Lahaina harbor on November 13th at 7:30pm and will return at 9:30pm.Get the details here.
