Vacation with a Budget on Maui

Affordable Maui Vacation

So you found that airfare to Maui is a bit cheaper now, and that vacation rental homes have become more affordable (see our Maui vacation accommodation specials).  Now here are some insider tips on convenient and fun Maui vacation activities and events that you can enjoy for little or no money. In the past we have usually focused on outdoorsy activities like snorkeling at our sparkeling beaches, enjoying the majestic vistas of Haleakala Crater, or driving through the lush jungles of Hana. This time you can get our insider tips on social and cultural activities.

Staying in West Maui? Meander over to Whaler's Village between 7-9PM for their nightly shows involving Tahitian and Polynesian dancing as well as Japanese taiko drumming. They're free! On Kaanapali beach, you will find live island rock with discounted drinks from 2:30-5pm on Fridays. You can get delicious $12 tacos at the outdoor cafe downstairs. Afterwards, head over to Lahaina where it's art night on Fridays from 7-10PM. Explore one of the finest art gallery meccas in the world. View the work, meet the artists, sample refreshments, and soak up Maui's warm night air.

If you are on a romantic getaway vacation or honeymoon, the Hyatt Regency in Lahaina offers a little something special that you might like. It is a couples-only Tour of the Stars with "Great White", the hotel's high-powered, sixteen-inch telescope. Champagne and strawberries are included. The price is $30 for guests and $35 for non-guests, and is offered at 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Prefer Maui's South Shore? Check out Alexander's seafood restaurant on South Kihei Road. Very tasty and affordable, with food starting at $7.25. You'll find broiled or fried dinners of ahi, mahi mahi, and ono served with fries or rice and home made sauces in a very casual environment. Great for kids too. You can also get some very affordable souvenirs at the outdoor market across from Kalama Park from 11AM to 7:30PM daily. They have all kinds of fun things, such as clothes, handmade paper products, koa wood frames, hand carved figurines and lots more.

If you are still looking for affordable accommodations, check out our Maui condo rental specials. Call (800) 676-4112 if you have any questions that are not answered on our website. We hope to see you soon. Mahalo!
