Maui Ocean Awareness Fair

On April 4th, Maui Community College will be hosting an ocean awareness fair on their Great Lawn. There will be action groups and guest speakers, games for kids, entertainment, food booths and even a film festival. Also, admission is free! This should be a great opportunity to get to know Maui beyond a tourist perspective, and it should be educational and illuminating to kids and adults alike.
The tagline of this event is "E Ola ke Kai, E Ola Kakou," which means, "as the ocean thrives, so do we". Since we couldn't have Maui's incredible island life without our ocean, it seems fitting to pay tribute to its awe inspiring influence.
Musicians include Uncle Benny Uyetake, Ukulele Virtuoso, Derick Sebastion, Tom Conway and more. The film festival will begin when the sun sets.
There will be several island-wide projects that guests can sign up to participate in. This event will be held in the spirit of cooperation to remind individuals of their personal impact and ability to make a difference. Whether you are on vacation or you live on Maui, the importance of the health and beauty of the ocean is hard to ignore.
The event is being organized by a consortium of non-profit organizations, foundations, community groups and businesses. Some of these are Kai Makana, Maui Tomorrow, the Hawai'i Wildlife Fund, Sierra Club, Maui Community College's Sustainability Club, MauiFEST Hawaii, and the Harold KL Castle Foundation.
