Maui Nui Botanical Gardens Earth Day

For an inside look at what makes Maui special, outside of the common tourist attractions that you may find pitched to you on your vacation, consider attending the Maui Nui Botanical Garden's 7th annual Earth Day 2009. Over thirty conservation organizations will be participating with fascinating information on Hawaiian species, making this an especially educational opportunity for kids or adults that are interested in the wonderfully unique ecology of Maui.
For those of you on a family vacation here on the island, this event will include Hawaiian cultural activities that are fun, educational and free. Some other valuable features include the Hawaiian plant sale, a silent auction, excellent food, and wonderful entertainment featuring three-tim Grammy Award Winner George Kahumoku Jr. and Hula Halau Na Hanona Kulike 'o Pi'ilani.
Parking and admission are both free to this event, which makes it an especially good choice for the vacationer with a budget. Education, entertainment, food and fun are all to be enjoyed in an authentic Hawaii experience.
See the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens website if you need more information on the details of this event. It is the mission of the Maui Nui Botaical Gardens to foster an appreciation and understanding of the living Hawaiian islands of today. A special emphasis is placed on the plants of Maui Nui (which includes Maui, Moloka'i, Lana'i and Kaho'olawe), as well as providing a center for Hawaiian cultural expression, environmental education, recreation, conservation, and biological study.
