Experience Hawaiian Music on Your Maui Vacation

The Maui Invitational Music festival is a summer celebration of the efforts of local music artists. Held in the months of June and July, a variety of workshops and concerts are made available to residents and visitors alike. This festival is presented by the nonprofit Arts Education for Children Group (AECG), but participants include people of all ages.
The AECG intends to reach out through the festival to create opportunities for students to study and play alongside accomplished instructors. Workshops throughout the festival will be open to vocalists and musicians of all ages. Categories are specific to skill levels.
This year's festival schedule includes presentations on everything from African and Hawaiian traditional music to Hip Hop and Hot Club to brass instruments and symphonies. Whatever your tastes, you should find something to pique your interest.
Under the direction of Lisa Owen, the Maui Community Band will play Hawaiian music which was specially commissioned for the Maui invitational Music Festival by AECG. This music will feature the songs of Israel Kamakawiwoole. The concert performances will take place at the Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center in Kahului on July 2nd and at the Concert in the Park on Lahaina's Library lawn on the 4th of July.
This festival is sponsored by the Conty of Maui, the Hawaiian Tourism Authority and the Arts Education for Children Group, which has all the event details available online. You can also call (808) 667-2805 for more information.
