Maui Film Festival in Wailea

This year's Maui Film Festival in Wailea is fast approaching. Slated for June 17-21st, this exciting lineup promises a fantastic experience. Films will be shown in Wailea as well as the Maui Arts and Cultural Center's Castle Theater. On the 17th, Hawai'i 3D will be shown at the Castle Theater. This is a stunning underwater journey through Hawaii's majestic coral reefs, shot in 3D. Departures will be playing on the same day. This is a widely celebrated film by Yojiro Takita, Departures won an Academy Award for best foreign language film. At the end of the day, guests can attend Starry Night MoonDance at Tommy Bahama's Tropical Café in Wailea for a taste of Maui's fine dining.

On the 18th, the Monday Before Thanksgiving will be shown. This 19 minute short film was directed by Courtney Cox. At 8p.m., the Nova Award Tribute to Zooey Deschanel will take place at SandDance on Wailea Beach. The Celestial Cinema program will include a special musical surprise followed by Rock Prophecies, Art Officially Favored and Sita Sings the Blues.

The 19th will feature 120 minutes worth of short films as part of the Explore Shorts Showcase. The evening event at 10p.m. will be Taste of Chocolate. This is a must-attend for any chocolate lover, as a myriad of delicacies are on the menu. Not sold? Ever had chocolate brioche french toast with oven roasted peaches, or hazelnut crusted molten chocolate cakes perhaps? They go all out on this one. It's a great opportunity if romance is any part of your vacation.
