Air Traffic to Hawaii Still on the Rise

Our last blog mentioned the 1.3 percent increase in travellers to Hawaii in July, but we just got some news about August numbers in. Hawaiian Airlines' traffic to Hawaii is up by almost 3 percent since the same month last year. Progress in general is good to see, but sustained progress is particularly exciting.
The load factor for Hawaiian Air in August was up to 85.4 percent, which was a 2.9 percent change from last year. The actual number went from 725,272 to 746,646. This system-wide traffic report from Hawaiian was released on September 3rd.
While it was suspected in July that visitors were taking advantage of the excellent vacation rental accommodation deals and cheaper airfare, that belief has most certainly been solidified since last month.
As for year-to-date numbers, Hawaiian's load factor was still down by about 0.1 percent, but the total number of passengers increased 4.7 percent to a total of 5.5 million.
Hawaiian Airlines remains the largest and longest-serving airline in Hawaii, so its statistics should be given a lot of weight if you are analyzing how significant they really are.
