Take a Trip to Hana on Your Maui Vacation

The most popular places to find Maui vacation rental homes or condo rentals are along the island's beachfront South and West Shores. The most beautiful beaches of Maui can be found in these locations, but perhaps you would enjoy an adventurous trip through Maui's jungles on the opposite side of the island.
Hana is found on the far side of Haleakala and the misty, rainy conditions there keep the lush jungles well-watered. This drive will envelope you in a sea of green. On one side you will be flanked by sprawling views of the ocean and on the other, cascading waterfalls.
The drive to Hana is a long one and you should devote a full day and a full tank of gas for the purpose of exploration. It is advisable that you pick up a map to make sure that you know where you are and that you leave Kihei or Lahaina areas by 7:30a.m.
Unlike many other popular spots to visit on Maui, the point of seeing Hana is the journey rather than the destination. That being said, there are some particularly fun stops you can make. Wainapanapa State Park offers cabins to visitors so they can explore partially submerged lava tubes and caves or enjoy the black-sand beaches.
Another nice place to stop is the Hana Lava tube. This one is not in the water. Descend through the ferns to take a self-guided cave tour to observe many stunning geological formations. We recommend that you have a look at a couple of the lava tube photos so you can see what we mean.
This is a great destination whether you are on a romantic honeymoon or fun family vacation!
