Explore a Breathtaking Maui Lava Tube

In one of our more recent blogs, we discussed fun things to do in Hana and the lava tube was one of the things we mentioned. This unique vacation attraction is definitely worthy of its own blog. This is one of those unusual geological treasures that few Maui vacationers are aware of. Care to try something different?
Also known as the Ka' Eleku Caverns, the Hana lava tube is great fun for families who are up for some adventure. The experience is educational thanks to the descriptive plaques that you will find scattered throughout. Each one describes fascinating facts about the myriad of unusual rock formations you will see, including what they are called and how they are formed.
Don't worry, there are no mosquitoes or bats in this cave. On the outside, there are beautifully landscaped grounds including a botanical maze and a picnic area.
The lava tube is open for self-guided cave tours seven days a week from 10:30a.m. to 4p.m. There is no wait, you simply pay around $12 per person, are handed a flashlight, and get to explore forty minutes worth of tunnels. The temperature inside the cave is cool and there are hand rails for your convenience.
