A Maui Vacation of Whale Watching

All Maui vacationers must decide what they will fill their days with during their stay. It often seems like there is so much to do and so little time to do it, that it becomes necessary to be selective. You have to pick and choose based on time, budget, and what you will enjoy the most. We recommend whale watching!
The best whale watching will take place in the beautiful ocean around Maui's south and west shores both this month and throughout February and March. These three months are like whale rush hour as calves are born and as males spar for rights to breed with females. Whales do not come here to feed. That work is done in the cold climates toward the north and south poles during the summer months. If a whale doesn't spend its time eating, what does it spend its time doing? Any number of dynamic activities that result in a great show for those observing them.
Whether you go out on a whale watching charter to get a very close view of the animals, or you are watching from prime spots along the shore, you will likely spy breaching, pectoral fin slapping, lob tailing and the humpbacks' distinctive spouts. Getting a close look at these animals is often a life-altering experience as you first become aware of the sheer physical magnitude of these creatures that share our world. While their size can be incredibly intimidating, these animals are quite placid.
Bonus Tip: If you can get into and under the water when it's calm and the waves are quiet, you will often hear the whales singing at various times during the day!
