Maui Ukulele Festival 2017

Looking for a fun musical event that the whole family can enjoy for free? No Maui vacation is complete without some live Hawaiian music, and with that in mind, you won't want to miss the upcoming Maui Ukulele Festival. The ukulele has been growing in popularity all around the world, and if you happen to have any musically inclined children, don't be surprised if they beg you to let them learn after attending this event.

Just imagine a relaxing afternoon where you can kick back and listen to the tunes of acclaimed 'ukulele musicians on a grassy lawn, accompanied by balmy tropical breezes. The emcee will be Roy Sakuma, a renowned 'ukulele teacher and advocate. You'll feel like you're walking through the pages of Hawaiian musical history as these talented individuals share their knowledge, skill, and creativity with you.

This year’s lineup has been announced, and will include: Willie K and his band, Paula Fuga, Richard Ho‘opi‘i, Aidan James, Kamakakehau Fernandez, Derick Sebastian, the Hula Honeys, Andrew Molina, Arlie Asiu, Nelly Baduria, Nick Acosta, Rui Okawa, Honey Bun & the Coconuts, the Aloha Picking ‘Ohana, the Kalama Intermediate ‘Ukulele Band, Kamehameha Schools Maui `Ukulele Band, and other great performers.

Among the highlights, there will be delightful island food available for purchase,  fine 'ukulele door prizes given away, and educational displays of arts and crafts made in Hawaii.

The festival will be held on Sunday, October 15th, 2017 on the spacious A&B Amphitheater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, about an hour drive from our West Maui vacation rental accommodations. The gates will open at 12:30, and the festival will start at 1pm and end at 6pm, so you can plan your day accordingly.

If you're going to be on the island during a different time of the year, you can always peruse the events, concerts and exhibits held at the MACC by visiting www.mauiarts.org. You can also find more information about this particular event at the same website.
