See 4 of Maui's Finest Waterfalls From This Helicopter Tour

Sightseeing is one of the best ways to fill your Maui vacation, assuming that you enjoy breathtaking natural beauty. Hopping in your car and driving around the island is a great way to take in the sights, but there's nothing quite like climbing into a helicopter and lifting off to glide through the sky and see Maui from new perspectives that you can't get any other way. Imagine a tour that whisks you off to the jungles of East Maui to see the most awe inspiring waterfalls the island has to offer, with the sparkling sapphire ocean on the horizon. This tour is offered by Maverick Helicopters, a business that's celebrated for providing a fantastic experience to guests.

The following waterfalls can be seen on various tours by Maverick, but the Maui Dream Tour includes all of them. In fact, you will see many other waterfalls on this tour as well, because there are just so very many of them in this part of the island. The drive through Hana consistently surprises visitors as they pass countless waterfalls on the drive, but it's a day trip and the journey tends to be slow going on a road so twisty that travelers often get carsick. On a helicopter tour, you get to see more spectacular vistas in less time, on a smoother ride. Sound appealing? Here are the most prominent waterfalls that you'll see on the Maui Dream Tour.

Waimoku Falls - Punctuating the lovely Pīpīwai Stream and emerging from dense jungle over 'Ohe'o Gulch, you'll find what is arguably one of Maui's most beautiful waterfalls. Tumbling down 400 feet to the pool below, it cuts an impressive figure of frothy white against the dark green backdrop. A little further down, the stream feeds into the Pools of 'Ohe'o near Kuloa Point. It's such a popular site, you'll be glad to drink in the sights while avoiding the usual crowds below. Side note: the park is currently closed due to a landslide, but that's no hindrance for a helicopter tour!

Wailua Falls - At 80 feet in height, this picturesque waterfall is one of the largest located along Hana Highway. In fact, one of its stand-out features is how close it is to the road. Its spray sends light mists onto the pavement, and when the light comes in right, beautiful rainbows appear. Of course, despite its proximity to the road, the best views can only be enjoyed by helicopter, especially if you want to see the many neighboring waterfalls along Honolewa Stream.

Twin Falls - This popular spot hosts many visitors on the ground, thanks to its scenic beauty and convenient accessibility. As the name implies, there are two main waterfalls, but there are numerous smaller ones that can be seen best from the air. It's another opportunity to make the most of the sights without having to worry about the crowds below.

Honokohau Falls - Saving the best for last, this titan cascades in two tiers down 1,119 feet of cliff side so magnificent, aerial shots of it were featured in the film Jurassic Park (1993). The landscape that makes this waterfall so impressive also makes it inaccessible by any other means of travel than helicopter, so it's a rare treasure to behold.

We hope you'll get a chance to enjoy these sights, if not with Maverick Helicopters, then with another one of Maui's helicopter tour companies. Maui vacationers and locals alike often agree that seeing Maui from the sky this way is an unforgettable experience.
