Where to Golf on Your Maui Vacation

Maui Vacation Rental Specials

Maui is one of the most beautiful places in the world to golf, and the courses themselves are breathtaking in their design. If you will be staying at one of our West Maui vacation rentals, there are several outstanding courses nearby. Here's a little bit of information on each:

Kapalua Bay Course - Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Sean in 1975, this course is Kapalua's first. Hole #16 features a stream winding down the middle of the fairway, but the oceanfront holes are what makes this course especially nice.

Kapalua Plantation Course - This course is ideal if you are looking for a challenging game. Strong trade winds and changing elevations are just a couple of the factors you'll have to compensate for. Extra balls are recommended for the rough that comes up to waist height.

Kaanapali Royal North Course - This one is an old favorite among golfers on Maui's west side. Hole #14 is oceanfront, and one of the very few on Maui that is. It's also one of the first resort golf courses on Maui, having opened in 1962. The design is a Robert Trent Jones classic. The course hosted the Senior PGA event for 10 years. It is probably best known for its finishing holes and the many water features to avoid.

Kaanapali Kai South Course - This course went through a redesign in 2005, during which new tee boxes and greens were added. It is considered both challenging and scenic, with the charming historic Kaanapali Sugar Cane Train running along it in some places. Sightseers will often wave from their open cars. The south side of the course is generally calmer than the north.

For all the courses on Maui, you should know that conditions tend to be calmest in the morning. The wind tends to kick up as the day progresses. Keep this in mind for other activities on the island as well, like snorkeling or boating. Now as for your accommodations, if you haven't decided where to stay, have a look at our Maui vacation rental specials for great deals. We also recommend a look at our Puamana townhome rentals.
